OHSAS 18001 Certification

ISCA has for some time been concerned that there is no formal procedure for the certification of OH&S management systems, equivalent to those available for quality and environmental management systems.

A certification system has been set up by a number of ISCA member companies in which ISCA members provide either advisory consultancy on obtaining OH&S certification or check compliance with the requirements of the OH&S management system. Compliance certificates are issued by ISCA, not by individual ISCA member companies.

ISCA has chosen OHSAS 18001 as the OH&S management system against which it will check compliance. Although not a British or International Standard, OHSAS 18001 is specifically intended for certification purposes and is well aligned with the International Labour Office (ILO) guidelines for OH&S management systems and it is comparable in content to ISO 14001 and ISO9001:2000.
